Bothell teen guilty in shooting death
SEATTLE--Last week, a 13-year-old Bothell boy was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of his best friend, Isaac Lee of Redmond. On the evening of July 15, the boy had pointed a .22 caliber revolver with a laser sight at a building and then Lee, when it discharged. Lee died from a gunshot wound to the head two days later.
Judge George Mattson reasoned that though the shooting was an accident, the boy was criminally negligent in pointing the weapon at Lee and pulling the trigger. Defense attorneys may file a motion for reconsideration. The boy's conviction, which carries a five to seven month sentence in juvenile detention, will be discussed at his sentencing Jan. 14.
