Brown Bag Summer Campaign needs help
Sixteen schools in the Northshore School District have signed on to participate in the fifth annual Brown Bag Summer Campaign, a fund-raiser of the Multi-Service Centers of North and East King County, which operates the Bothell food bank, where hundreds of low-income Northshore area families come each week for food. The summer campaign is geared toward raising money to provide enough food for those families over the summer months, when donations are down and the demand is high because children from these families are no longer getting free meals at school.
The coin drive begins in the schools at the end of April and continues to the end of the school year. The community-directed campaign starts in mid-May and ends in mid-June. Anyone interested in starting a coin drive in a school, business or church, may call Debbie Marchione at (425) 869-6022. Coins or donations also may be dropped off at the Multi-Service Centers' headquarters at 16225 NE 87th St., Suite A-1, Redmond.
