Easy to follow emergency preparedness plan

Now that spring is here, many of us are cleaning out our homes. While you are cleaning out those cupboards and drawers, it is the perfect time to put together your Emergency Containers. Rather than throwing out items no longer used, think about whether they would be handy in an emergency.

Study should be done before building starts

Of greater concern than the 32 homesites mentioned in the plateau area of Duvall is the Duvall Comprehensive Plan which calls for 242 high density units, zoned R-8, to be built in a 38 acre area surrounding the intersection of 150th Street and 278th Avenue.

Oscar Roloff is a treasure

Whenever I see something unusual around here, whether it be an old building in an odd place, or a metal statue of a giant cow, I know that it will remain a mystery only until Oscar investigates and writes about it.

A huge thank you

The mayor extends thanks to all the community groups, agencies and volunteers that worked many long hours to put on the Celebrate Woodinville festivities.

'Ugly' stolen from reader board

If this person wishes to talk about this, return the reader board letters and call me. I will meet you at any public place. Oh, we will also drop theft charges.

Most would pay $4 per month

Besides providing about 20 percent of the operating cost of our district, this levy will also help provide start-up costs for our new schools.

Alex Sidie Random Acts of Kindness remembered

Alex was a pharmacist on Bothell's Main Street for 50 years. He often bestowed random acts of kindness on the community, never expecting any recognition. Alex passed away this past year, and in his honor, May 25 (his birthday) has been designated "Alex Sidie Random Acts of Kindness Day."

Volunteers are lively, friendly

The volunteers that staff the Snohomish County Visitor Information Center are one of the liveliest, friendliest groups of people I have ever worked with, and I think their vitality comes from thinking about others and serving others.
