Desmond/Beck Horsemanship Clinic

Two horsemanship coaches who can help you and your horse improve for competitions or pleasure riding are coming to give a horsemanship course at Carousel Ranch, 21815 State Rte. 9 S.E., Woodinville, April 30 - May 3. Leslie Desmond of Novato, CA, will conduct an evening demonstration Thursday, April 30 and a three-day horsemanship clinic Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3. She is joined by California horseman, Mike Beck. Desmond and Beck put on horsemanship clinics throughout the U.S. and Europe. Their clinics are for both horse and rider, as they help horses and humans learn how to understand and enjoy each other.
Desmond and Beck do not use whips, leverage bits or any conventional restraint methods in their training. They help people learn how to develop and apply what is called a "feel" of their horse. "This way," says Beck,"the horse can choose to get together with the human, and he usually will because it feels a lot better than the alternative."
Beck, who is also a singer/songwriter, will perform his songs of the American West at a house concert following the May 2 clinic. For information call (425) 788-7644. Additional information about Desmond/Beck clinics can be found on the internet at www.lesliedesmond.com.
