Bothell High welcomes sister school
Since 1992 students, staff and families from Bothell High have welcomed visitors from Kindai High School of Osaka, Japan into their homes and into the school. A strong connection has developed over the years between students, families and administrators. Many Kindai families have hosted students from Bothell and Inglemoor High Schools while they attended classes at Kindai.
A welcome party in the school cafeteria was attended by all the host families and the 37 visiting students. During the 2 week stay, the students attended ESL classes provided for them, as well as regular classes with a pre-assigned buddy. In the afternoon excursions were planned to show the Seattle area to the visitors. An overnight trip to Eastern Washington was also included in the itinerary to visit Central Washington University and the Yakima Indian Nation for dinner and traditional Indian dancing.
The Sister School Program has been organized and implemented by CONNECTIONS, a Woodinville-based international exchanged organization. With the encouragement and help of both school staffs, this program has become a welcome tradition in the area.
