Motorcyclist dies from injuries
WOODINVILLE-A 26-year-old Redmond man died from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident last Friday morning. James Preston was airlifted to Harborview Hospital after sustaining head, chest and abdominal injuries in the accident. He underwent surgery for most of the day, but passed away around 3:30 p.m., according to the King County Medical Examiner.
Police say Preston was traveling southbound on 140th Pl. N.E. near Gold Creek Tennis Club on a Kawasaki Ninja when he may have tried to pass other vehicles on the right. According to King County Sheriff's spokeswoman Joanne, Elledge, Preston went onto the gravel shoulder of the road, lost control of the bike, sliding about 60 feet hitting several large rocks before coming to a stop. One boulder estimated to weigh 200 pounds was moved six inches by the force of the collision.
Traffic was rerouted around the accident scene for several hours while police investigated.
Elledge said speed is being investigated as a factor.
