DUVALL--The Duvall Historical Society is beginning to make use of the $30,000 in King County grants that will go toward restoring the Dougherty House, according to Tove Burhen, Historical Society president. The house is slated to become a museum. The house, built in 1888, has suffered many break-ins in the past few years. New locks and windows are being installed in hopes of preventing further problems, she said, adding that intruders have tried to build fires in the fireplace, lit candles and thrown paint around the inside of the house. Volunteers are needed for a work party that is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. The house is located on Cherry Valley Road across from the school. Call 788-1266.
