Unregistered sex offenders targeted
SEATTLE--The police and prosecutorial forces of King County will be targeting unregistered sex offenders again this year. Last week, King County Prosecutor Norm Maleng, Sheriff Dave Reichert and Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper announced the formation of the second annual multi-agency sex offender violation task force. The task force is comprised of 12 agencies who will begin work May 26. The goal is to get all sex offenders to register with the Sheriff's Office. Under state law, offenders must provide the Sheriff with information on where he or she lives, works and for what offense they were convicted. It is a felony not to register. Sheriff Dave Reichert said he anticipated bringing 26 cases to the task force in the 11 days.
