Great news for Tolt Track fans

CARNATION--The Tolt Thunderbirds are midway through the 1998 track season and are having a fine year. What the team lacks in numbers, compared to the larger Issaquah school, is made up in talent and heart. This year Tolt has hosted three home track meets, and thanks to our friend "El Nino," there hasn't been any worry about swamp water on the track.

The team has had some stellar performances over the past four meets as well as some amazing individual improvements. On Tuesday, May 19, several 8th grade records were broken: Morgan Jackson in the 75m hurdles with a time of 13:22; Tom Barrett in the 75m hurdles with a time of 12:00 and Allison Schmidt (a true 7th grader) in the 1600 with a time of 5:47.
Several of the athletes are fast approaching record-breaking performances.

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves will be receiving some fine incoming freshmen track athletes for years to come. Again, this is Jane Byram's last year as track coach at Tolt Middle School, and what a fine job she has done--I will miss her as my "partner in crime."

The Middle School Track Finals are held June 4 at Issaquah High School.
