Gipsy Kings, Mary Chapin Carpenter open Festival on the Green

   The first two concerts in Chateau Ste. Michelle's 1998 Summer Festival on the Green will be held this week. The Gipsy Kings will play Wednesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at a sold-out concert. The group of brothers and cousins are from the caravans of a Gypsy community in the south of France. Their music features multiple acoustic guitars and the expressive, passionate vocals of the brothers, Reyes and Baliardo.
  
   Mary Chapin Carpenter will appear in concert Sunday, June 14 at 7 p.m. As of press time there were still tickets available. Eight million Carpenter albums have sold world-wide. She has received five Grammy Awards, two country Music Association Awards. Her hits include "Come On Come On," "Stones in the Road" and "A Place in the World."
  
   The concerts are held in the winery's outdoor amphitheater. General admission seating is festival style on the lawn. Blankets and low beach chairs are allowed.
