Herbfarm invited to cook in New York city

Although The Herbfarm Restaurant in Fall City has not yet been rebuilt, its owners Ron Zimmerman and Carrie Van Dyck along with chef Jerry Traunfeld were invited to prepare a prestigious "Northwest Passage" dinner in the New York townhouse of the late James Beard. Proceeds from the sold-out event promotes culinary education in America.

"This menu is rather challenging," said Zimmerman, owner and original chef, "in that it focuses on the indigenous foods of the Northwest. We are flying everything east for the event. As great as New York city is, you just don't purchase fresh nettles, elderflower, Douglas fir needles, salmonberries, mountain mahogany, sea beans, elk and the like in Manhattan."
