Under city regulations, all dogs and cats over the age of eight weeks must be licensed. Juvenile licenses are available for dogs and cats under six months of age for a cost of $5 for a six-month license. The annual license fee for an altered dog or cat is $15, and the annual fee for an unaltered dog or cat is $55.
City residents age 65 and older may purchase a license for the lifetime of their pet for a one-time fee of $12 for cats or $20 for dogs. Special licenses are required to keep more than three dogs and/or cats within the City limits.
Purchase of a pet license will give a pet a "free ride home" on its first impound, and notification by King County if the pet has been picked up. For further information, contact the City Clerk's Office at 425-486-3256 or King County's Automated Pet Information Hotline at 206-296-PETS.
