Celebrate Fall City Days this weekend

The 27th annual Fall City Days will be held this weekend, June 20 and 21, in downtown Fall City and on the elementary school grounds. Highlights include a 5K walk, 5 and 10K runs, kiddie parade, grand parade, dunk tanks, arts and crafts booths, food booths and live entertainment on two stages, sponsored by the King County Arts Commission. Helicopter rides, kids' rides, go-carts and pony rides will be part of the celebration.

Day of race registration for runners and walkers will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Fall City Days booth in Olive Taylor Quigley Park. The races begin at 9 a.m., going through scenic farmland, and ending in the heart of town, just prior to the beginning of the parade. The kiddie parade will begin at 10:45 a.m., followed by the grand parade at 11 a.m.

Entertainment will feature "Reggie Garrett and the Snake Oil Peddlers," an exciting acoustic ensemble, performing urban folk soul on Quigley Park stage at 12:15 p.m. For those country-classic rock lovers, "The Max Band with Howard Mack" will be on the parade stage at 12:30 p.m.

All proceeds from the events are re-invested in the youth of the Snoqualmie Valley. Special programs are funded, teachers' special requests are granted, signs and fences are erected, uniforms, supplies, playground equipment, books and computers are purchased.

The events will run from 9-5 on Saturday, and from 10-4 on Sunday. SR-202 will be closed Saturday from 6:30 a.m to 6 p.m. between 324th Ave. SE to Preston-Fall City Road.
