'Run for the Pies' part of July 4 celebration
Carnation's sanctioned 5K race and fun walk is set for Saturday, July 4 at 8:30 a.m. Certified by the USA Track & Field Association and officially timed by Moving Legs, the race has attracted runners from as far away as California. The flat course takes runners through the quaint historic town of Carnation and combines it with a scenic route along the Tolt River. The race has been opened up to also include fun walkers so that anyone can participate.
There will also be carnival rides, arts and crafts, food vendors, a parade, a vintage car and Harley show, an innertube race down the Tolt River, a beer garden, the Snoqualmie Tribal gathering and live music and entertainment scheduled throughout the day. A grand fireworks display is scheduled for dusk.
Shirts are not guaranteed to be available for day-of-race registrants. To guarantee a shirt, entrants should register by mail or at "in store pre-registration" locations. For information, call Paulette at 425-333-6246. Day-of-race registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the designated registration booth located near the starting line with an additional $3 added to all day-of-race fees. Volunteers are still needed.
