Planning underway for Kenmore celebration
A committee of Kenmore residents is busy with plans for a community-wide celebration on Sunday, August 30 to commemorate the official incorporation of Kenmore as a city, effective the following day.
At present, plans call for a parade/kiddie's parade in downtown Kenmore on Sunday afternoon, an open house at City Hall and lots of activities for the whole family both at Kenmore Village and Logboom Park. The afternoon and evening celebration gala will conclude with a fireworks display at Logboom Park.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will feature Mayor Crawford and the Kenmore City Council. King County Executive Ron Sims and Councilperson Maggi Fimia plan to attend and join with other civic leaders in this historic event.
The committee leaders, Gary and Elaine DuPen, welcome any Kenmore residents who would like to help in organizing and promoting the big event. Meetings are held each Wednesday night at the Kenmore Police Station at 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested is encouraged to call the DuPen's at 481-2566.
