City planning big gala to celebrate incorporation

Plans for the Sunday, Aug. 30 celebration to commemorate the new city of Kenmore are taking shape. A committee has been meeting weekly to schedule the many events and it looks to be a fun-filled day for the whole family.
A children's parade followed by the Official Kenmore parade will kick-off the day's activities at 3 p.m. Following the parades, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at City Hall with Mayor Crawford and the city council members officiating.
State and county officials and mayors of surrounding communities will be invited to share in this historic event for the City of Kenmore.
There will be lots of food and refreshments for the whole family at both Kenmore Village and Logboom Park (Tracy Owen Station Park), the two main venues for the day's festivities.
The dusk to dark events will be focused at Logboom Park where music and entertainment will be provided for all those gathering for the fireworks display over Lake Washington.
Anyone interested in helping with planning for the Aug. 30 celebration is encouraged to call Gary and Elaine DuPen who are co-chairs of the planning committee. The DuPen's can be reached at 481-2566.
