by Woodinville Weekly staff
WOODINVILLE--A favorite at Celtic Festivals and Highland Games, Golden Bough will kick off Woodinville inaugural lunchtime concert series at DeYoung Park August 5 at noon.
The concert, which begins at noon in the downtown park, will offer musical fare ranging from ballads and tales to lively sing-alongs and toe-tapping jigs and reels.
Golden Bough, a trio, was founded in 1980. They fuse traditional Celtic with original folk music and play a variety of common and unusual instruments including Celtic harp, penny-whistle, guitar, accordion, octave-mandolin, harmonica and the hand-held bodhran drum.
The group has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe.
DeYoung Park, named after John and Ellen DeYoung who came to the area in 1925, is located in downtown Woodinville across from Molbaks on N.E. 175th St.
The concert lasts until 1:15 p.m.
In coming weeks, Selah will perform Aug. 12, M-Pact is here Aug. 19, and Island Time Steel Band puts on its show Aug. 26.
