Hundreds evacuated after gas line break
BOTHELL--Hundreds were evacuated near the Allstate Insurance building after crews tunneling under a nearby road with a drill hit a two-inch gas line and a 12-inch water main last Thursday afternoon.
Nine buildings in the 18700 block of North Creek Parkway were evacuated as a precaution against explosions.
Gas company officials advised people not to start their cars, use their cellular phones or smoke cigarettes in the area.
"Quite a few people were pushing their cars out of here," said Capt. Joe Krempl, Bothell Fire and EMS.
