by Northlake News staff
KENMORE--King County gave the go-ahead to LakePointe last week, granting administrative approval of the master plan for the urban village at the mouth of the Sammamish River. The Department of Development and Environmental Services also approved a commercial site development permit and a shoreline development permit.
LakePointe will be similar to Carillon Point in Kirkland. Plans call for phased buildout of the 50-acre site with over 200,000 square-feet of office space, 440,000 square-feet of retail and commercial, including cinemas and a hotel, 1,200 residential dwelling units, a 53-slip boat marina and 4,464 parking spaces. Almost half of the site will include natural open space, public parks, walkways and trails and a public amphitheater with views down Lake Washington. A highway bypass will also be constructed from Bothell Way to 68th Ave. N.E.
Appeals of the site development permit and master plan are due by 4:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at King County Building Services Division, Permit Service Center 900 Oakesdale Ave. S.W., Renton, WA, 98055-1219.
The shoreline permit can be appealed to the State Shoreline Hearings Board.
