   Garland Edward "Gem" McGrew, Sr. Garland McGrew, 65, of Bothell died Aug. 5 following a long illness. He was born Aug. 28, 1932 in Keithville, LA to Charley and Fern McGrew. He joined the Army in 1948 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. before serving in the Korean War. From 1948 to 1951 he served in Fairbanks, AL.
   Mr. McGrew worked as a plumber and pipe fitter for nearly 40 years, owning Rustad Heating and Plumbing. He was a member of Local #132.
   He volunteered in the Bothell Fire Department for 25 years and was a 26-year member of the Lake City Elks.
   He was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Clarence, Harry, Irving and Donald; and three sisters, Kathryn, Harriett and Margie.
   Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Judith McGrew of Bothell; two sons, Garland E. McGrew, Jr. and his wife Jonette, and Gary A. McGrew, all of Bothell; five grandchildren, Joshua, Gabrielle and Gary McGrew and Heather and Nicholaw Butcher; one brother, Charley McGrew of Shreveport, LA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
