Duvall Police looking for Explorers for new program
The City of Duvall Police Department, in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, has formed a Duvall Police Explorer Post.
The program, headed by Duvall Police officers, is open to all interested individuals between the ages of 14and 21.
The Explorer program is designed to give youths a better understanding of law enforcement through training and experience. Explorers meet with the Explorer advisor at least once a month for training. This training encompasses a wide variety of topics required of police officers.
Once Explorers can demonstrate a certain level of proficiency, they are able to assist the Police Department with tasks ranging from crowd control during Duvall Days to call-outs for natural disasters such as floods.
There will be an open meeting for new members on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 6:30 p.m. at the Duvall Fire Hall. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
