8/27: Close to midnight, an officer tried to stop a motorcyclist that was speeding northbound on Main St. from NE Kennedy. When the officer turned on his overhead lights, the motorcycle sped up. When the motorcycle turned eastbound at NE Valley St. the rider looked back at the patrol car, took off his helmet and accelerated up the hill.
The chase continued up NE Valley with the motorcyclist speeding up the hill, then continuing southbound on 3rd Ave. The motorcyclist's speed was in excess of 50 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. He continued up the hill into a development with only two ways in and out. Other Duvall units were able to seal off the area. The motorcyclist tried to go around a house on NE 143 Ct. but was unable to do so. He jumped off his bike and took off on foot. He was apprehended a short time later.
The driver would not identify himself, but was tentatively identified as the registered owner of the motorcycle. He was booked in the King County Jail for attempting to elude police officers. The King County Jail was able to positively identify him as a local subject with an outstanding warrant for his arrest and a long list of prior crimes.
