Police Beat

  Someone unsuccessfully attempted to steal a 1986 Chevy Camaro from the Westview Gardens, 14300 Woodinville-Duvall Rd., then ransacked the vehicle. Missing were an amp, speakers, stereo face plate, tools and CDs. Loss estimated at $1,200.

Planning Commission to look at cell tower regs

  Under the Telecommunications Act, cities have the authority to regulate wireless facilities through the zoning process. But cities can't create prohibitive zoning, are pre-empted from considering environmental and health effects of radio emissions and must act on permits within a reasonable time or issue written decisions if permits are denied.

Choosing judges in Washington State

  Judges do not run with party labels. Their races receive little news coverage and their positions are so technical that it is difficult for the average voter to know how well an incumbent judge is carrying out his duties. As a result, many Washington voters take a pass when judicial races are on the ballot. But judicial decisions can have a significant affect on our lives, from building sports stadiums to riding Jet Skis.
