State awards lane switch contract to Woodinville firm
OLYMPIA--The State Department of Transportation awarded Mowat Construction of Woodinville a $640,000 contract for the I-405 HOV lane switch project.
The project consists of relocating a 13-mile segment of north and south bound high occupancy vehicle lanes from the outside to the inside lane of I-405.
Lanes from Coal Creek Parkway to N.E. 160th St. will be affected.
Jan Pazhouh, state HOV operations engineer, said inside HOV lanes are safer, and that lane users would no longer have other vehicles weaving in and out as they entered and exited the interstate.
Partial lane closures and construction is planned to take place at night and on weekends beginning in mid-September and wrapping up by mid-November.
