District 45 asking voters to lift levy lid
Duvall/King County Fire District 45 will be asking voters to approve a levy lid lift in the November General Election.
By approving the lid lift, voters authorize the Board of Commissioners to raise the real property tax from $1.19 to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. Fire District 45 has not raised the levy lid since 1987.
The 31-cent increase would provide necessary funds to provide additional personnel in order to meet federal and state safety regulations.
Funds will also be used for replacement of defibrillators, radios and self-contained breathing apparatus that will be reaching their regulated service life. This increase will amount to $5.16 per month ($62.00 per year) for a $200,000 home.
Fire District staff are available to make presentations on the proposition at meetings and other events. Anyone who would like a presentation to be given for their group should call 788-1625 to schedule a time.
Pro and con committees will be preparing the statements for and against the ballot measure for the Voters Pamphlet.
Committee appointments must be made by Sept. 18. The written arguments must be submitted by Sept. 22.
Anyone interested in being on either one of the two committees should call the Fire District office at 788-1625.
