'Beat the Bug' campaign
The City of Woodinville has partnered with Visiting Nurse Services of the Northwest and the American Lung Association of Washington to sponsor "Needle City Hall." Flu and pneumonia vaccines will be available to the general public.
The Center for Disease Control recommends a flu shot for those 65 years of age or older; have a chronic condition such as diabetes, diseases of the heart, lungs, kidneys, severe anemia or conditions causing lowered resistance to infection; live with or care for high risk persons; have a strong desire to avoid influenza infection or reduce the severity of the illness or are beyond the first trimester of pregnancy (14 weeks).
Medicare recipients who are not members of a managed care plan may use their Medicare benefit as payment.
Individuals will be asked to sign a consent form at the time of immunization.
Cost for the flu shot is $10; pneumococcal vaccine is $20.
Contact Marie Stake, Community Services Coordinator, Woodinville City Hall at 489-2700, ext. 245 for additional information.
