Early stage memory loss group forming
A new group now forming in the Bothell area will give people experiencing symptoms of early stage memory loss a chance to meet others in the same situation. The nine-session program, offered by the Alzheimer's Association in cooperation with the Northshore Senior Center, Woodinville Adult Day Center, Northshore Adult Day Center, Arden Court Alzheimer's Living and the University of Washington Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, will meet at the Northshore Senior Center from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning Monday, Oct. 5. Participants will meet with trained facilitators to learn strategies for managing day-to-day life, how to cope with changes in family and social relationships, and legal and financial preparations they will want to make. A concurrent group for families or companions will meet nearby.
Space is limited, so pre-registration is necessary by calling Linda Woodall at the Alzheimer's Association at 1-800-848-7097. Participants should be aware of their memory loss but be able to verbalize their concerns and exhibit insight. There is no cost for participants.
