Hearing on custom slaughtering establishment set
The Washington State Department of Agriculture has scheduled a public hearing to consider granting Iver R. Alm of Alm Ranch, Fall City, a license to operate a custom slaughtering establishment.
The hearing will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 22 at the Carnation Fire District 10 meeting hall, 3600 Tolt Ave., Carnation, next to Tolt Middle School.
Mr. Alm applied for a license to operate a custom slaughtering establishment on Sept. 9. Washington state law requires the department to hold a hearing on the economic need for the proposed facility in the community before issuing a license.
If the Alm Ranch application for a custom slaughtering establishment is approved, they would be able to slaughter animals at their facility which will be located at 3724 324th Ave. SE, Fall City.
Oral and written testimony will be taken at the hearing. Interested persons may also submit written testimony to the department by Oct. 14. Written testimony should be directed to Washington State Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Animal Health Division, P.O. Box 42560, Olympia, WA 98504-2560.
