Stuck modular home snarls traffic
DUVALL--Three 70-foot pieces of a modular home destined for a lot just two blocks up the hill from Main Street were unable to make a turn and got stuck in the middle of town last Wednesday afternoon.
It took five hours to move the segments from where they were originally stuck in front of City Hall to their destination, said Duvall police Chief Glenn Merryman.
He said it appeared the pieces of the Lamplighter home were coming from the Monroe area.
Merryman said police helped the trucks maneuver around the widest roads, first going up Stephens St. to 1st Ave., then back to Virginia St., up Virginia St.to 3rd Ave., then back to Stewart St. and then down to the lot at 2nd and Cherry.
"We only had three inches to spare on every corner," Merryman said. "It caused quite a traffic backup."
