Duvall woman killed in head-on crash
King County traffic investigators say they still don't know why a pickup driven by a Redmond man crossed over the center line on Novelty Hill Road last week, hitting a minivan driven by a Duvall woman.
The woman, Shanda Walla, 29, was killed in the accident. Her daughter Jessica, 26 months, who was in the back seat, suffered a broken leg and abrasions.
Walla was coming from Duvall and was apparently planning to meet her husband Jack, who works in Woodinville, at a Redmond Park.
The collision occurred in the 20500 block of Novelty Hill Road at about 5:38 p.m. on Sept. 29.
The King County Sheriff's Office identified the driver of the pickup as Lonnie Phillips, 54, of Redmond.
"All we know so far is that excessive speed or alcohol were not factors in the accident," said King County Sheriff spokesman John Urquhart, last Friday.
