Kenmore City Council approves ordinances
by John Phelps
The Kenmore City Council passed Ordinance 98-0038 authorizing Kenmore to designate a traffic engineer at their Oct. 5 meeting. This enables Kenmore to install and maintain traffic control devices.
Ordinance 98-0027, establishing the process for Type III Land Use Permit decisions to be appealed to King County Superior Court was also approved. This will speed up certain types of land use decisions.
Steve Anderson, Kenmore city manager, presented the 1999 preliminary budget.
The projected property tax levy for city purposes is $1.60 per $1000 of assessed valuation; the projected Regional Library System levy is $.50 per $1000. The library levy will not be assessed in 1999 because of Kenmore's incorporation date of Aug. 31, 1998.
The City Council and staff will review details of the budget prior to the formal budget hearing on Nov. 16.
The budget is scheduled to be finalized on Dec. 7.
