On Oct. 6, the Cedarcrest golf team played Newport at Tall Chief par 35 front nine.
Derek Berg was medalist with a 4 under par 31. The Newport coach said that it was the lowest score shot in a match all season at Tall Chief.
Cedarcrest lost the match 180-187. Newport had their best total score all year. Cedarcrest was up by five after the first four players came in for each team. Cedarcrest beat its all time best total by six. For of the six boys shot in the 30s, which was another first.
This was the fifth time this year the team was leading after the first four scores were in.
Derek Berg shot his terrific 31. Sean Beveridge shot a great par round of 35 (after playing hockey all weekend).
Marc Medley had a score of 37 and Jason Kamada 39.
Joe Wasem, recently up from JV, shot a 45 and Robin Spayde a 47.
Derek Berg has been medalist (beat everyone in the match) six times so far this year and is 12 under par for the entire season. Marc Medley has been medalist once.
