Public can help plant trees along the Tolt

The community is invited to join volunteers from Washington Trout, Tolt High School, Girl Scout Troop 1906 and Boy Scout Troop 411 to replant native vegetation along a newly opened side-channel of the Tolt River. Learn about efforts to enhance salmon habitat in the community. Plantings will provide shade and cool water for the salmon and include western red cedar, Oregon ash and red-osier dogwood.
The planting will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. Volunteers will meet at the volunteer event signs at Tolt-MacDonald Park in Carnation. Parking will be by the baseball diamond in Tolt-MacDonald Park across from the fire station.
Wear old clothes and rubber boots, hiking boots or old tennis shoes. Dress for the weather as the event will be held rain or shine.
Bring work gloves and coffee mugs (optional). Lunch will be provided by Entranco. King County will provide tools and gloves for those without. Please call Kirk Anderson at 206-296-1948 if you plan to attend. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
