Kenmore City Council agenda
by John Phelps
The Kenmore City Council study session on Nov. 11 dealt primarily with issues to be discussed at the regular Nov. 16 council meeting.
First on the agenda was a proposed movie tax followed by a resolution to authorize temporary annexation of Kenmore to Fire District Number 41 until Dec. 31, 1999.
This would ensure fire coverage for 12 residential properties including Saint Edwards State Park. Presumably the area will come under the Northshore Fire Department in the year 2000.
Also discussed was the need to move regular city council meetings from the Northshore Fire District to the Northshore Utility District auditorium.
That move will make it necessary for the regular city council meetings to be held on the second and fourth Monday of the month starting in Jan, 1999. City staff has drawn up a proposed resolution for the next council meeting.
Council member Elodie Morse proposed Kenmore support a program to have volunteers man the store front police office at the Kenmore Boys and Girls Club to assist residents in any government or police matters. The city staff will research how other cities are doing this and give the information to the council.
Council member Morse disclosed that some citizens are attempting to start a group to sponsor an annual Kenmore Christmas tree lighting and provide holiday decorations for the city.
The council then went into executive session to discuss property negotiations.
