Katie Wenger, an 18-year-old Woodinville girl, won second place with her partner in the senior pairs competition at the British Ice Skating Championships last month.

A skater since she was nine, Wenger and Daniel Thomas skated against five other teams from the United Kingdom, according to her mother, Pat Escalona. Afterwards, Wenger was interviewed by the BBC.

Wenger, who wants to be an ice dancer, has two sisters and a brother who are also athletically inclined. She holds dual-citizenship. The family has lived in the Hollywood Hill area for the past twelve years.
