  Susan Ann Holmberg (Nelson)
   Age 47, died peacefully at home on Dec. 30, 1997, after a two-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Susan was born May 22, 1950, in Seattle and grew up in Ballard, graduating from Ballard High School. She received a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Washington and went on to earn both her teaching certificate and a Masters Degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. A devoted second grade teacher at Hollywood Elementary in Woodinville for nine years, she inspired her students with her own passion and love for reading and learning. A woman with incredible compassion, courage and an indomitable spirit, she will forever be an inspiration to us all. She is survived by her husband Russell and two sons Andrew and David of Woodinville; her mother Lois Valela of Seattle; her sisters Roberta Schmalenberger of Vancouver, WA and Mary Snyder of Olympia, WA.; and brother Tom Nelson of Olympia. Memorials may be made to Evergreen Community Hospice.
