The Fair is an informal open house designed to highlight volunteer opportunities on the City's seven boards and commissions. Written information regarding the objective of each of the boards, their membership requirements, and the frequency, time, and location of their meetings will be available. Current Board and Commission members, as well as new City Manager Jim Thompson, will be available to answer questions.
There are currently 14 positions on the following boards and commissions to be filled: Park and Recreation Board, three full-term vacancies and one partial term vacancy; Planning Commission, two full-term vacancies; Shorelines Hearings Board, three full-term vacancies; Library Board, two full-term vacancies; Board of Adjustment, one full-term vacancy; and the Landmark Preservation Board, two full-term vacancies.
Applications for Board or Commission membership are being accepted at City Hall through Friday, February 12. The City Council will conduct interviews for the Board and Commission positions on Monday, March 8, 1999, with appointments scheduled for Monday, March 15. Full-term positions will begin on April 1, 1999.
