Valley Special

Duvall Police Log

Jan. 1: Just after midnight, officers were dispatched to a report of gunfire on Cherry Valley Road. Officers found a local man, who after having a few beers, decided to welcome in the New Year with the help of his shotgun. The man was placed into custody and transported to the police station. Charges have been filed.

Shortly after that incident, officers, while checking Cherry Valley Elementary School, saw a sport utility vehicle attempting to drive up the grassy bank from the rear of the school to the upper playground. When confronted by the officers, the driver told them that, after leaving a New Year's Eve party, he decided to show off to his girlfriend by trying to drive up the rather steep and slippery bank.

Both sets of parents were called, as was the maintenance supervisor for the school. After a suitable agreement was reached, both the driver and passenger were released to their parents. There was no alcohol involved.
