Hand-made quilt to be raffled

   The winning raffle ticket for a quilt created by Evergreen's Quilts of Comfort Volunteers will be drawn March 2. The one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted quilt is a queen/king-size in shades of deep blue, rose, and white that the group named Lover's Knot. More than 400 hours of work went into its creation. Raffle tickets sell for $5 each, or six for $25, or 13 for $50. They may be purchased by calling (425) 899-3000. Proceeds from the raffle benefit the Wellness Works Resource Center and the Evergreen Hospice Center.

Teen Band Jam Night

   All bands are invited to play in preparation for the upcoming Battle of the Bands. Jam night is Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Sorenson Gym, 7-10 pm. Cost is $4, payable at the door. Bands wanting to play must call in to register with Woodinville Parks & Recreation Department at 489-2700. Sound tech support requirements are needed by Feb. 22. The Battle of the Bands will be scheduled later in spring with a location to be announced. For more information, call 489-2700.

Blood drive

   Puget Sound Blood Bank will hold a blood drive Feb. 19 at Ricketts auditorium, 18315 Bothell Way NE, from 1 to 7 p.m. with a break from 3:45 to 4 p.m. Donors are encouraged to eat a full meal and drink plenty of fluids before giving blood. For more information, call 1-800-DONATE-1.

'Slimy Slugs and Wriggly Worms'

   See slugs and worms up close and learn more about them on Feb. 18 from 1 to 2 p.m at Gold Creek Lodge, 16020 148th NE in Woodinville. Reservations for this King County Parks class are required. Call (206) 296-4171.

Take a walk in the country

   The Interlaken Trailblazers will sponsor a Volkssport walk Feb. 27 beginning at Red Hook Brewery, 14300 NE 145th in Woodinville. Participants will walk from the brewery through the country on the Sammamish River Trail and around downtown Woodinville; the 10-kilometer route is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Start time is between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a finish time of 4 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. For information, call (425) 788-2182.

Swinging with the big bands

   Swing with the Big Bands will be presented at the Kingsgate Library, 12315 NE 143rd, Kingsgate, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. Prior to the program, there will be a short meeting of the Friends of the Kingsgate Library. For details, call (425) 821-7686.
