Blood donations needed for Mike Brittain

   Blood donations are needed in the name of Michael D. Brittain, Sr., co-owner of Woodinville Florist and former owner of Illusions Sports Bar and Grill in Duvall. He is currently confined to bed at University Hospital awaiting a heart transplant.

   "My prayers go out to those who are helping me. I am weak, but my spirits are good. I am number 1 in line for a heart transplant," said Brittain from his bed. He welcomes encouraging calls at (206) 598-2906.

   Any type blood may be donated at a Puget Sound Blood Center. There is a center in Bellevue at 1021 112th NE, (425) 453-4011. The Seattle location is at 921 Terry Ave.

Gasoline spill closes SR-522

   A Texaco fuel tanker overturned when it hit a soft shoulder on SR-522 near Paradise Lake Road last Sunday. SR-522 was closed as crews worked to clean the resulting gasoline spill into a drainage ditch and remove both gasoline and diesel from the tanker. The road reopened at 5 a.m. Monday.
