Road closures hit Canyon Park

Road closures in the Canyon Park area of Bothell are scheduled to begin Mar. 1.

The closure of 240th St. SE from 39th Ave. SE to 45th Ave. SE will take place in two stages. From Mar. 1-5, the roadway will be closed for 24 hours a day with access for local and emergency vehicles only. From March 6-15, the road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and re-opened in the evening. Westbound traffic on 240th St. SE will be detoured around the construction site, following 45th Ave. SE to 228th St. SE, then turning onto 35th Ave. SE to return to 240th St. SE. Eastbound motorists will follow the detour in reverse. For additional information on the 240th St. SE closure, call the city's Senior Civil Engineer, Ken McDowell, at (425) 486-8152.

The first road closure on 228th St. from Fitzgerald Rd. to 35th St. SE will run from Mar. 1-June 18. The road will not be open for through traffic. Eastbound traffic will be re-routed south on Fitzgerald Rd. to 240th St. SE and then north on 35th Ave. SE back to 228th St. SE. Westbound traffic will follow the reverse of this detour route.

The second phase of the 228th St. SE construction will extend the road closure from Fitzgerald Rd. to 45th Ave. SE from March 15 to June 18. Traffic heading eastbound on 228th St. SE will detour south on Fitzgerald Rd. to 240th St. SE and head back north on 45th Ave. SE, returning to 228th St. SE. Westbound travelers will follow the reverse detour route.

Local and emergency access to homes along 228th St. SE will be maintained at all times during the three-month period. The closure will allow construction crews to replace the bridge over North Creek as part of the $4.4 million project to widen 228th from Interstate 405 and 39th Ave. SE. Major roadway excavation and filling will take place to even out the roadway. Sewer, water and fiber optic lines will be placed during construction. City engineers are asking drivers to use alternate routes to minimize travel time delays. Questions on this road closures may be directed to the city's Senior Project Manager, Darek Jarzynski, at (425) 486-8152.
