"Celtic Fever," a showcase of Irish dance and music, will be performed on Sunday, March 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedarcrest Performing Arts Center, 29006 NE 150th St., in Duvall.
The first of three performances sponsored by Arts Onstage, "Celtic Fever" will feature Stanley Greenthal with fiddler Randall Bays. Bays, regarded as one of the Pacific Northwest's finest fiddlers, has performed all over the U.S., Europe, and Canada.
Young prize-winning dancers of the Ballyglass Irish Dancers bring alive the flavor of old Ireland with a set of reels, jigs, hornpipes, and figure dances. Special guest Tim Hickey, tap dancer extraordinare, will also perform, as well as conduct a free workshop on Irish hardshoe dance. The workshop will be held prior to the performance from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
Hickey, the owner of Tim Hickey Dance Studio in Kirkland, teaches jazz, tap, Irish hardshoe, and swing dance. His credits include the Seattle Festival of Tap Dance, the Duke Ellington Sacred Music Concert, Folklife, and The Heritage Festival. He has toured seven countries with the Broadway musicals 42nd Street and My Fair Lady.
Kaleidoscope, a modern dance company, will be featured as the second Arts Onstage performance on April 25. The company, composed of young people between the ages of 8 and 15, is the only one of its kind in the country.
The final performance will be an original musical production of Pinocchio Commedia by Storybook Theatre.
Tickets to these events are available singly or as a series. The series price is $15 for all three shows. Single tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and free for children under 5.
