Voters to decide on tech levy

The Riverview School Board has decided to place a $3.9 million, six-year technology levy on the May 18 ballot.

The measure would pay for six new computers per classroom and updated equipment. The board originally planned to ask for $4.9 million. The lower amount will cost a homeowner of a $200,000 home about $90 a year.

Board president Laura Ritter said it is plain the district is behind in technology. Riverview Executive Director Michael Green noted that surveys of other districts have found that Riverview lags behind in both the number and currency of computers available for students.
