March 29, 1999
The 1999 Celebrate Woodinville festivities brought smiles to the thousands who braved the chilly, but miraculously dry day last Saturday to attend the All Fools' Day Parade, Basset Bash, opening of the Woodinville Farmers' Market, Teen Northshore Art Show, Children's Activity Fair, City of Woodinville's Birthday and Community Swing Dance.
This year was the first for the Woodinville Bed Race, which was held immediately prior to the parade. Snohomish challenged the newly-formed Woodinville Redhook team and there was some question as to the winner, even though Woodinville was named.
Even the parade judges couldn't identify the "Important Person" riding in the white limo but they promised to be back next year.
The annual event is sponsored by various community groups, and put on with the cooperation of local business and their donations, as well as hundreds of community volunteers.
