Alumni News

   Jennifer Weiss, a student at Whitman College and a 1996 graduate of Inglemoor High School, attended classes in Vienna, Austria, sponsored by the Institute for the International Education of Students.

   Elizabeth Brenton, 1996 graduate of Woodinville High School, took classes at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

   The following students attending Central Washington University have qualified for the 1998 honor roll--Spring quarter: Thomas Cady, Raymond Bautista, Lori Hermansen, Nathan Enns, Russ Morales, Kelly Mellinger, Jennifer Evans, Erica Galbreath, Natalie Schmidt, Catherine McCarthy, and Matthew Palmquist. Winter quarter: Raymond Bautista, Russ Morales, Jennifer Evans, Catherine McCarthy, Jennifer Blanken, Leslie Washam, Lauren Bolen, Renee Schiferl, Royce Cottle, and Jennifer Mielenz.

   Keri Baker and Krissi Mathers of Woodinville represented Central Washington University in the NCAA Division II West Coast regional cross country meet.

   The following students were members of Whitman College music ensembles who performed during the annual "Sampler:" Tyson Ayers, graduate of Juanita High School; Hans Tysver, of Bothell Senior High School; and Lars Tysver, of Bothell High. Both students received scholarships for the 1998-1999 academic year at Western Washington University. Gretchen Olson recieved a $500 President's Scholarship for outstanding academic ability. Andrea Lorette received a $925 strings scholarship from the department of music.

   Christina Meyer maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her first year at Truman.

   Erik Miller, graduate of Inglemoor Senior High School, performed with the Whitman College Madrigal Singers.

   Melissa Szendre has been named to the 1998 fall term Deans' List at Oregon Institute of Technology.

   At 104 lb. and in the 18-19 age group, Jon McKanna set a world record by bench-pressing 220 pounds at the 1998 World Bench Press Championships.
