Family Center grand opening April 22 features fun, dignitaries

The grand opening celebration for the new Children's Services of Sno-Valley Family Center in Duvall on Thursday, April 22, from 4-6:30 p.m., will mix fun for children and families with speeches and appearances by dignitaries.

County Executive Ron Sims will be the keynote speaker at the ribbon cutting ceremony, planned for 5:30 p.m. The mayors of Duvall and Carnation will join Sims, other local and county representatives, legislators, and donors who will be recognized for their support of this new effort by Children's Services of Sno-Valley to enhance educational, support, and therapeutic services available to children and families in the Lower Snoqualmie Valley.

Remlinger Farms' resident puppet theatre, James the Puppeteer, will do shows at 4 and 5 p.m. The Stillwater Skippers jump rope team is scheduled to perform. A wandering magician will also be on site performing feats of legerdemain.

Several unique collections of children's toys will be on exhibit. Alan Rumpf of Duvall will display a portion of his collection of 350 traditional and contemporary tops from around the world, including some that he himself crafted. Butch Harviston of Carnation will share his collection of unique kites. He hopes to demonstrate his indoor kite in action at the Center.

The Center is located at 15904 Main St. at the intersection of Main and Virginia. Call 788-7924.
