Concert to benefit 'Soaring to Scotland'

WHS junior Shaun Diaz will be the featured cellist at a special benefit Mother's Day concert.

The Northshore Sinfonia String Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Tony Catanzariti, will perform a special Mother's Day benefit concert on Saturday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Woodinville High School theatre.

The concert will be followed by a gourmet dessert buffet. The concert, titled A Musical Journey: From Here to the Highlands, will feature local string players performing a selection of light classical pieces, including several well-known works by Mozart. In keeping with the "Scotland" theme, they will also perform arrangements of tunes from the British Isles. Cellist Shaun Diaz, Woodinville High School junior, will be the featured soloist on the program.

Ticket prices, which include the dessert buffet, are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and are available at the door. Woodinville High School is located at 19819 136th Ave. NE in Woodinville. Proceeds support WHS Theatre Company's participation in the Edinburgh Scotland Fringe Festival in August 1999.
