WOODINVILLE--A 1994 Ford Explorer exiting the Albertson's parking lot on 140th Ave. NE pulled in front of a northbound 1995 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 17-year-old woman, just after noon on April 20.

The three-year-old daughter of the Explorer's driver was taken by aid car to the Urgent Care Clinic for treatment of a laceration near her left eye. She was later released. Investigating officers found tissue from the child's wound on the inside of the left passenger door, the point of impact. The child's car seat was still firmly attached to the middle of the back seat.

The impact left the Explorer facing south in the left northbound lane, with the rear left-side door and window extensively damaged. According to police, a witness said the Explorer's driver appeared to be talking on a cell phone as she pulled out.

Woodinville police and aid cars arrived on the scene within minutes of the accident, helping those involved, and gathering testimony from drivers and witnesses. Traffic from every direction continued to flow without backups.
