Washington State Dairy Princess Julie Haakenson of Carnation met with Rep. Laura Ruderman, D-Redmond, shortly after Haakenson spoke to the state House of Representatives about the state's dairy industry.
OLYMPIA--A Carnation woman got the chance to speak to a captive audience--the state House of Representatives.
Julie Haakenson, 20, the current Washington State Dairy Princess, spoke recently before the House about the importance of the dairy industry to the state of Washington.
"She's an impressive young woman," said Rep. Laura Ruderman, D-Redmond. "She gave a nice, solid speech. It was a good reminder to the members of the Legislature that agriculture isn't just important to rural counties. We have a number of dairy farms in King County and the 45th District and we need to support them all."
Haakenson is a 1997 honors graduate of Eastlake High School in Redmond where she was a member of the Honor Society, Key Club, and French Club.
