TBCS students take top places at spelling bee

   Three students from The Bear Creek School (TBCS) took three of the top four places in the ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) District Spelling Bee held at Heritage Christian School in Bothell.

   Megan Maas, a 6th grade student from Redmond, won first place in the overall final round. Seventh grader Elizabeth Burke of Duvall won second place, and fifth grader Sebastian Chang of Woodinville took fourth place. Also placing were: Emily Dickson, first place in the first grade competition; and Lynn Vandendriessche, third place.

   Jesse Wetter won first place in the third grade bee and Sebastian Chang placed second in the fifth grade bee. Megan Maas won first place in the sixth grade competition and Elizabeth Burke won first place in the seventh grade bee. Edward Dindinger took third place in the eighth grade division.

   In the Regional Spelling Bee held in Vancouver, Elizabeth Burke placed third, and Megan Maas placed fourth. Both girls will go to the ACSI National Spelling Bee in Colorado Springs, Colorado in May.

School is accredited

   Nancy Price, head of The Bear Creek School, recently announced that the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools has fully accredited the school for grades K-10.
